Katoen Natie is taking a new step in the modernisation and acceleration of its port operations with the commissioning of three Mantsinen 300 material handling machines, spread over three quays in the port of Antwerp. With this investment in the largest hydraulic material handling machines in the world, the company aims to shorten the turnaround time of operations while further improving quality and safety.

As of August, Ari Toivanen (M. Eng.) has been appointed as the Chief Operations Officer of the Material Handling Machinery business unit (MHM). Ari’s area of responsibility includes the order fulfilment process of material handling machines and attachments, all the way from the reception of sales orders to the shipment.

After completing her welding degree in Outokumpu and a basic examination in the metal industry in Joensuu, Mari Mourujärvi worked at two other jobs before coming to Mantsinen Group. She has now been working at Mantsinen for two years.

Henri Vänskä holds the position of service product specialist at Mantsinen Group. During his mechanical engineering studies, he did his internship and wrote his thesis for Mantsinen, which opened the door for a position as a service engineer, working with service bulletins and remote connections. Today, his duties include working with service products and systems, product development and customer service.

Many large modern Pulp Mills in Latin America have put their trust in Mantsinen material handling machines when optimizing operations and utilizing best practices in their wood yards and mill feeding operations. Brazilian Pulp manufacturer Suzano Papel e Celulose, one of the largest pulp manufacturers in the world, has relied on Mantsinen’s material handling expertise since 2018. The partnership is continuing with the largest machine order in Mantsinen’s history.

Iida Vartiainen started working in Mantsinen Group’s Logistics Services for the first time in 2018, when having a summer job in Uimaharju’s Stora Enso Enocell pulp mill area as railcar cleaner. In autumn, she started studying at Karelia University of Applied Sciences in Joensuu to become an engineer in forestry. After one year of studying, in the summer of 2019, she returned to work at Mantsinen for two months. This time her objective was to learn how to use material handling machines.

The first material handling machine with DualPower has started operations at HHLA TK Estonia’s terminal in October. This investment will increase the speed and efficiency of bulk handling.

Mantsinen Group has been active in Russia for almost 25 years. Mantsinen ceased export operations to Russia immediately after Russia began a war of aggression into Ukraine.
